Position Purpose:
A Horizons Summer Program Certified Medication Tech/ CNA is responsible to support Horizons staff and students to ensure the safety and well-being of all.
Responsibilities:
A Certified Medication Tech/ CNA will perform the following responsibilities and duties:
- Attend orientation trainings and all required staff meetings
- Comply with all safety rules and regulations
- Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, per doctor’s orders on file.
- Follow State of Maryland protocols on how to manage, administer, and document all medications and all health room visits
- Record medication dosages and times. Observe students and document effectiveness of medication
- Contact parent/ guardian when prescribed prn medication administered and effectiveness
- Ensure medical area is cleaned frequently throughout the day
- Uphold all health and safety standards
- Respond to all student/ staff health emergencies to identify medical needs
- Will keep the Health Nurse Supervisor and Site Director aware of medical concerns of student
- Will refer all medical questions to the Health Nurse Supervisor
- Assemble the health area prior to the summer program and disassemble at the end of the program
- Will keep a Medical Log with entries of all students’ medical interactions.
- Ensure the Health Nurse Supervisor reviews and signs at the end of the program
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or relevant qualification
- Must be a Certified Medication Tech/ Aid with a current Maryland license
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology
- Works well independently and is self-motivated
